1D: The Final Cut
So with the final project came the obstacle of "how to create the illusion of moving images with still photos, and not look like your grandparents' photo slideshow", or at least with me that was my obstacle. When we shot with the film cameras, I had the impression of we were "filming on film". And I was a bit caught off guard when it turned out we were just taking photos. But thankfully I had a great partner in Matt. We were perfectly in sync with the editing process; I was the idea girl and he would physically edit the photos. Whenever I had an idea for a certain sequence, he would say "I was thinking that too!". It was great playing off of each other, and made the experience even more tolerable. Editing the film wasn't too bad. The trouble was mainly we didn't have that many dark-surreal images to choose from, quite a lot of them were pretty tamed. However we played around with the color correction, zoom effects, and repeating images to get the desired aesthetic we were achieving for.
